What should you pay attention to when buying a gymnastics silk?
Aerial scarves, i.e. acrobatic scarves or vertical scarves, are an essential element of aerial silks training. It is a sport that involves performing figures and combinations on a silk suspended from the ceiling. It combines elements of aerial acrobatics, gymnastics, strength training and dance. It is very popular, so more and more people decide to use this method of activation. Additionally, acrobatic scarves, as training equipment, allow you to work on the entire body, especially the deep muscles that are responsible for proper posture and stabilization.
In addition, regular aerial silks training improves coordination, increases body awareness, slims, improves flexibility and stretches. They are also a perfect complement to other disciplines, e.g. pole dancing, gym training or aerial hoop. What's more, exercises with vertical scarves can be performed by anyone, including children. Just remember that acrobatic silkes must be of high quality to make such training comfortable and safe. You can find them in the shop at Flying Rose.
Which acrobatic silk should you choose?
The ideal acrobatic silk for aerial silks training must be sufficiently flexible, have the right weight and durability. However, assessing these properties is not easy, especially if you have no experience. So it's worth knowing why these three features are so important and what to pay attention to.
The first one, flexibility, affects the comfort of exercises. If the vertical scarf is not flexible, it will cause a lot of pain during falls. However, too much flexibility may make it difficult to exercise. Therefore, it is important that the material is flexible, but neither too much nor too little, preferably both in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
PRO acrobatic silkes
PRO acrobatic silkes available in our store are approx. 10% longitudinal stretch, which, according to our research and tests in the training room, is the optimal value. In turn, the second feature, i.e. weight, should enable easy grip of the material regardless of the pose. The PRO silkes we offer can be easily gripped, regardless of the size of your hand. Durability, the third feature, is simply related to safety.
We strongly advise against purchasing ordinary material that is not suitable for aerial silks. Professional silkes undergo specialized tests, thanks to which their use is not only comfortable, but above all safe. It is worth remembering that during exercise the material is subjected to heavy loads. Material not intended for aerial silks exercises may turn out to be too weak and, consequently, increase the risk of a possible accident.
It should also be emphasized that a good quality aerial silks silk does not cause abrasions, burns or other wounds (when combined with appropriate clothing). The material should be pleasant to the touch and skin-friendly. Therefore, you should choose a professional scarf, with appropriate elasticity, safe and durable, preferably manufactured in Poland.
How to choose aerial silks silkes?
The safety of aerial silks training also depends on whether the scarf has been selected correctly. How to do it? Acrobatic silkes should be selected according to the suspension/ceiling height and the type of ceiling. It is assumed that the optimal length of the scarf should be: twice the height of the room + at least half a meter of ends on both sides of the scarf on the ground. The length formula could therefore be: 2xh (height) + 2 x 0.5 m (the ends of the silk on the ground). For a room with a height of 2.5 m, this gives 2x2.5 + 2x0.5 = 6 m. The result determines the minimum length of the silk. If you receive a fractional result, round the value up to the nearest whole meter.
In our store you can buy silkes of the following lengths:
6 m (for rooms 2.2-2.5 m)
7 m (for rooms 2.5-3 m)
8 m (for rooms 3-3.5 m)< br />9 m (for rooms 3.5-4 m)
10 m (for rooms 4-4.5 m)
11 m (for rooms 4.5-5 m)
12 m (for rooms 5-5.5 m)
13 m (for rooms 5.5-6 m)
14 m (for rooms 6-6.5 m)
15 m (for rooms 6.5-7 m)
16 m (for rooms 7-7.5 m)
The selection of an aerial silk is not influenced by factors such as age, height or experience, but to some extent the sling can be selected to suit your preferences. This refers to the length of material you want to leave on the ground. As a standard, it is assumed that there should be from 0.5 m to 1 m on the ground.
Acrobatic silkes can be mounted on steel, structural and wooden beams, as well as in the concrete ceiling, on steel frames, etc. At the point of suspension, holes should be made and kotwę. You can also translate zawiesie through the beam. Before installation, it is worth consulting a specialist who will assess whether the type of ceiling allows suspension. Please also remember to check the attachment before you start exercising.
