Aerial yoga is an unconventional physical activity. It combines aerial acrobatics with yoga and offers many benefits for human health: it improves circulation, reduces stress, improves posture and stabilization, and increases body awareness. Additionally, the yoga hammock, because it is on this that aerial yoga training takes place, allows for deeper work on the muscles. Exercises on it activate the whole body, especially the abdomen, arms, back, and buttocks. As a result, the silhouette nicely slims down and also becomes more flexible. Body capabilities increase almost with every training session. It's no wonder, then, that hammocks for aerial yoga are currently one of the bestsellers. This type of activity can be practiced both in a studio and at home. It is a great alternative to classic yoga, but also a way to stretch many muscle groups after other intense workouts, such as at the gym. Many people also emphasize that the hammock provides a break from routine – exercising on it is simply fun. We therefore recommend our yoga hammocks to everyone who is looking for new, interesting ways to train, but places safety first. In the Flying Rose offer, you will find only professional, tested, and durable hammocks for aerial yoga.

How to choose a yoga hammock?

Hammocks for aerial yoga should be chosen not only according to personal preferences but also considering safety and comfort of use. These features, however, depend on properly selecting the hammock for the height of the room where the training will take place. It is recommended that the length of the material be at least twice the height of the room. For example, for a room with a height of 2.5 m, the hammock should be at least 5 m, and for a room of 2.8 m, at least 6 m. However, it is worth noting that if the wrong length of material is chosen, it is still possible to work on it. If the yoga hammock is too long, it can simply be shortened. However, if it is too short, it can be "extended" by hanging the material on a strap or sling. Otherwise, the length of a hammock hung on adjustment straps should be calculated differently. In this case, instructions can be found in the product description Home Hammock.

Another extremely important thing is the suspension point, that is, the place and type of material where you plan to hang the aerial yoga hammock. For safety reasons, this aspect should be consulted with professionals, especially if you do not know what type of ceiling is in your home/studio. The suspension point must be stable and strong, as the ceiling mount directly affects the safety of the exercises.

Hammocks for yoga can be suspended in at least a few ways, and the choice of option depends on the type of ceiling. For concrete or reinforced concrete ceilings, it is sufficient to choose the appropriate anchor and mount. However, when planning installation on a suspended beam under the ceiling, you can use an alpine loop or strap. You can also use an eye hook with a wood thread. In this case, for single-point hammocks, for full safety, it is worth getting a swivel. It will prevent the hook from unscrewing during play and rotations on the hammock (this happens especially with children). There is no one universal method, because the ceiling material decides everything. Additionally, hammocks can be hung on one or two points.

Yoga Hammocks – What material is suitable?

We strongly advise against purchasing material that is not adapted for aerial yoga. Non-professional alternatives may indeed be cheaper, but they have little to do with safety. It is not known if they are sufficiently durable and stretchy. To avoid danger, choose a yoga hammock made from professional, tested material.

Good quality material should be stretchy widthwise, pleasant to the touch, durable under load, stable, and resistant to various cleaning treatments (washing, disinfection). We are therefore pleased to inform you that the aerial yoga hammocks available in our offer meet all these conditions and are additionally 100% made in Poland. They are made of polyamide, which has the right thickness, does not cut into the skin, and is pleasant to the touch. It can be machine washed. It is tested according to the PN-EN ISO 13934-1:2013-07 standard, which allows for determining the durability of the material. Choosing our yoga hammocks, you do not have to worry about buying a pig in a poke.

Can everyone practice aerial yoga?

There are no major contraindications to practicing aerial yoga. What's more, yoga hammocks can enable the execution of poses that were impossible for someone in classic yoga, for example, due to too much strain. The hammock significantly facilitates some exercises, while others are made more difficult, allowing you to continuously set new challenges. Moreover, even children can practice aerial yoga.

Some also wonder whether the aerial yoga hammock causes discomfort. You may sometimes hear stories about the material cutting into the skin. Indeed, this is possible, but only when the hammock is of poor quality. There is also no need to worry about problems with the vestibular system. Any discomfort occurs briefly and only at the beginning. Later, the body gets used to the new activity.
