Pole Dance Pole from Flying Rose

Not so long ago, pole dancing had various connotations. Today, fortunately, most stereotypes have been forgotten, and pole dance training has become a beloved way for millions to develop muscle and flexibility, fight fat tissue, and increase body awareness. The most crucial element of such activity is, of course, pole dance poles. Exercises using poles combine aerial acrobatics with dance, requiring extraordinary strength and precision.

To perform combinations smoothly and lightly, many training sessions are needed, but it's no exaggeration to say that pole dance poles are addictive. Seeing gradual progress and relatively quick changes in the body makes one want to train more and more. It can be said that motivation grows in direct proportion to the number of training sessions. But what kind of  pole is a good choice? It's worth considering, as an improperly chosen one can hinder training or even increase the risk of injury. To avoid this, we recommend choosing poles available in our offer. These are  poles of various types. All have undergone appropriate tests, and their use is fully safe.

What height should a pole dance pole be?

The height of a pole dance pole should always be adjusted to the room's height. You can find very different lengths on the market. They start from 2.2 m, but comfortable training, without worrying too much about the height, can be done in a room with a minimum height of 2.4 m. Moreover, the 2.2 m height includes the dome, which takes about 10 cm off the training surface. Generally, the higher the room, the more comfortable the training will be. It's also worth noting that you need to fit not only in height but also in width. The space around the pole dance pole should be at least as much as your height. In pole dance schools, about 1.8 m of free space is usually left.

What material should cover a pole dance pole?

A dance pole can be covered with various materials. The most popular are chrome models – they do not cause allergies and do not corrode, ensuring a secure grip and are widely available. Poles covered with brass are also considered good due to their high resistance and adhesion. However, nickel poles are not recommended because they are exceptionally slippery, which simply complicates training. Additionally, nickel can cause allergies, so it may not be suitable for everyone. There are also rubberized, painted, and powder-coated poles. They are less popular than chromed ones, but their advantage is that they provide good grip even in clothing. Therefore, it is worth adjusting the choice of covering to your preferences.

What diameter should a dance pole have?

Pole dance poles come in various diameters. Typically, they range from 40-48 mm, but if possible, it is worth choosing a diameter to suit your needs. It is considered optimal when you can fully grasp the pole with your hand. The thinner the pole, the more secure the grip. However, thick pole dance poles may be uncomfortable and difficult to "handle." Diameters of 42-48 mm prevail in competitions.

How to install a pole dance pole?

The installation of a pole depends on the type of pole and the ceiling in the room. If you want to permanently attach the pole, you need to drill holes in both the floor and the ceiling. This will be the most stable construction, but it is practically immovable, so you should think carefully about the installation place. To avoid drilling, you can install a tension pole – it is mounted similarly to pull-up bars. You will then gain a lot of freedom because you can simply remove the pole if you need to change the arrangement. In rooms up to 3 m, a combination of tension and ceiling mounting is commonly used: the bottom has tension stabilization, and the top is permanently attached under the ceiling. In taller rooms, a permanent installation is worth considering. Important: always mount a pole dance pole to a permanent ceiling. If you have a suspended ceiling, you need to cut a hole in it and perform the installation to the actual ceiling. In some cases, additional reinforcements may be necessary.

Static or spinning pole?

Pole dance poles are divided into static and spinning. The former is more stable, making exercises on it somewhat safer. The latter facilitates performing spectacular acrobatics and figures in spin, but requires more feeling. Static poles are therefore recommended for beginners, while spinning ones are for those with some experience. In pole dance schools, dance poles that combine both functions, i.e., static-spinning, are most often installed. They can be adapted to the needs and skills of different dancers.

Portable pole dance pole

If you perform outdoor shows or do not have the possibility to mount a regular pole, consider choosing a portable pole. Freestanding poles do not require ground mounting and are completely portable. They can be set up in virtually any chosen location. They are foldable, so just pack them into special bags, e.g., on wheels, to transport the entire set from point A to point B. We recommend, for example, mobile pole dance stages from X-Pole.
