| Aerial Carabiners
Aerial acrobatics training requires proper equipment – ones that ensure safety and ease of use. In addition to a gymnastics mat, a ceiling mount, or climbing eights—standard necessities for aerialists—carabiners (also called snap hooks) are also crucial. With them, you can properly install your equipment: aerial silks, aerial hoops, aerial yoga hammocks, and other elements. Carabiners are also useful for mounting recreational aerial equipment. Regardless of the purpose, carabiners must be of high quality to serve safely and correctly. These small elements play a very important role: they connect the swivel to the installation set that is located in the ceiling. The stability of the installation thus largely depends on the carabiner's parameters. For this reason, we recommend choosing only tested products with high durability, meeting appropriate standards. Such carabiners are available in the Flying Rose offer.
Which carabiners to choose?
The choice of carabiner should depend on the intended use. These devices do not differ much, but depending on the activity, they may have different limitations. Some carabiners have a large gate opening, allowing you to hook both knots of a hammock. Others are adapted only for hooking one knot. You can find detailed information on this in the descriptions of our products.
When choosing a carabiner, consider not only the shape but also the material it is made from. For aerial acrobatics, only tested metal carabiners are recommended. For exercises on an aerial hoop, those with an oval shape are best as they prevent the rope from shifting sideways. For hammock installations, carabiners with a longer base are better. Both types are available in our offer, and we are happy to assist in selecting them. We can also send a declaration of conformity that confirms the product's durability.
Carabiner is wearing out – what to do?
It is natural for carabiners to wear out. This applies to both chrome-plated and galvanized steel carabiners. It is important to keep this in mind because due to wear, the equipment wears out and after a 1 mm wear depth, the carabiner should be replaced with a new one. However, there are ways to avoid wear – just include a sling or straps between all cooperating metal elements. Remember, however, that straps can also wear out over time. For safety, regularly check the condition of the equipment and promptly replace any worn parts if damage as described is noticed.
